How Do You Relieve Stress?

My husband has just come back from the allergist who says that most of the welts that my husband has believed were bug bites or cat allergies are actually from stress.

Steve is actually causing these things to appear on himself.

He's stressed about the bed bugs that we (I) THINK are out of our apartment, stressed about money (though he shouldn't be), stressed about work (it's tax season), and stressed about things that we haven't even begun to plan yet. He is from a family of worriers. And it's funny, because that used to be me...

I used to be the one who would freak out and stress and now I'm more (much more) laid back. Now he's worrying about everything, especially things that (I feel) he can't control.

I've been taking a lot of things to prayer lately and have been trying to have no fear because 'what can man do to me?' Not to say that I'm perfect, but I'm worrying less because of it. And I also bake and sing to help relieve stress and worry. I think Steve might need something else too.

How do you relieve stress when you feel like everything is crashing down on you?

  1. Realize that God only gives us enough to get through what worries we have for that day. He never promises to give us what we need to get through next week, next month or even next year. So changing that focus to just today, has really helped out so much.

Realizing that worrying about anything doesn't make the worry go away is also helpful. Go with the flow and Let Go and Let GOD!

  2. That happened to me too! A few years ago we had company and found out they had lice. I got so freaked out after they left, that I broke out in little red dots all over my body. The doctor said it was just stress. It's incredible how your mind can play such tricks on your body!

  4. I try to do things that make me happy. Looking at our wedding pictures always helps. Or the movie Love Actually is also an instant mood pick me up. Hugs ... there are others of us who are also dealing with things that feel like mountains! Best to give it to God and do what you can to get your mind on a happy track!
