Swapped buttercream for ganache and used a sturdier cake recipe. Just need to make sure that all three cakes are the same size (the third cake, the one on top was so small, that I decided to not level out the cakes and just go with what I had, because leveling would have made them all far too fragile and too skinny.) The center cake holds up much, MUCH better than the last cake. Now, just to get the top layer right!
